THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
The Linguist will work with large amounts of text and language data to train and evaluate Text-to-Speech models for the target locale. Their work may include:

• Text processing and preparation: Reviewing, cleaning, organizing, and preparing large volumes of text that can be used for model training and evaluation.
• Creating test and evaluation sets: Developing and refining text-based datasets that can be used to test how accurately the model synthesizes text to speech.
• Data analysis: Analyzing data and preparing examples that help improve model performance and identifying areas where the model needs improvement.
• Audio/speech evaluation: Listening to audio and reviewing audio transcriptions to evaluate pronunciation and naturalness in order to determine how well the model performs in the target locale.
• Regex: Using regular expressions to write text normalization rules.
• Natural Language Processing and scripting: Using Python or other tools to process large datasets, automate tasks, prepare test sets, or analyze model results.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

• Native-level fluency in one of the following locales with deep understanding of the culture and how the language is written and spoken in the target country:
  • en-AU x 1
  • en-ZA x 1
  • es-MX x 2
  • pt-BR x 2
  • fr-FR x 2
  • it-IT x 2
  • de-DE x 2
  • zh-CN x 2
  • ja-JP x 2
  • ko-KR x 2
• Strong linguistic background.
  • Degree in Linguistics 
• Comfort using LLMs or AI tools to support data, linguistic, or evaluation work efficiently.
• Basic familiarity with git/version control
• Basic Python knowledge, with the ability to understand or work with simple scripts.
