Title: Field Engineer
Location: Montgomery, AL expectation that the person is physically onsite roughly 5 days/week. Expect 40-50 hours/week
Duration: 12 months+
Compensation: $70-90/hr

ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
This On-Site Engineer will serve as the primary onsite representative supporting the Owner and design team throughout the construction phase of a large-scale project. The role will coordinate communication between the design and construction teams, manage RFIs, submittals, design changes, and document revisions, and help resolve issues across civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines. The engineer will also support construction observations, schedule reviews, BIM and mock-up reviews, and change management. Success in this role requires strong construction administration experience, technical expertise, and the ability to work closely with engineers and field teams to manage RFIs, address onsite issues, and effectively coordinate and influence multiple stakeholders to drive timely resolution.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
- Take a key onsite role supporting the Owner and design team throughout the construction phase of a large-scale project.
- Serve as a central point of communication between the Owner, Contractor, Project Team, and design team, facilitating timely decisions and resolution of project issues.
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, design revisions, substitutions, and change management across the project.
- Support design coordination across civil, structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
- Review construction progress, quality, schedules, and field conditions and communicate potential issues, delays, deficiencies, and discrepancies to the Owner.
- Review proposed construction methods and schedules and provide input on their reasonableness and alignment with the project's design intent.
- Participate in BIM reviews, mock-up approvals, project meetings, and onsite coordination with the design team and Contractor.
- Provide technical assistance and facilitate resolution of design and engineering issues encountered during construction.
- Coordinate the design team's onsite participation, including advance scheduling and communication with the Contractor.
- Support punch-list development and closeout activities to help ensure work is completed satisfactorily.
- Review and coordinate design documents, RFI responses, submittals, substitutions, and other construction-phase deliverables.
- Identify potential defects, omissions, safety concerns, or other issues and promptly communicate them to the Owner.
- Help establish clear lines of communication, remove roadblocks, and improve administrative processes supporting project needs.
- Facilitate collaborative prioritization of project deliverables to support the construction schedule.
- Work independently in the field while adapting to changing priorities and supporting the Owner's onsite construction management team.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and helping implement solutions to prevent them from happening again.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS (Top 3 Must Haves)
- 7–10+ years of field supervision, construction, or superintendent experience with strong ownership of quality, technical oversight, and project execution.
- Experience coordinating across multiple trades, including electrical, mechanical, civil, plumbing, and general contracting teams, on large-scale $500M–billion+ projects.
- Proactive, self-directed leader who takes ownership, identifies issues early, and drives action and resolution across the project.
